Transcription of obituary published in the Minutes of Conference
STANLEY THOMPSON: born in South Shields on 17th September 1899, he entered the Primitive Methodist ministry in 1925 and, after training at Hartley College, travelled in the following circuits: Leicester III, Sheffield (Abbey), Sheffield (Ecclesall), Bridlington (St. John’s), Hull (North), Cannock Chase, St. Helens and Prescot, Darlington (North), and Danby, retiring to the Birkenhead Circuit in 1965. He died on 19th January 1977 in the seventy-eighth year of his age and the forty-ninth year of his ministry. At his own request there is no further obituary.
Family
Stanley was born on 17 September 1899 at South Shields, Co. Durham, to parents Ralph Foster Thompspn, a grocer (1911), and Dorothy Marshall. He was baptised on 18 October 1899 at South Shields.
He married Margaret Ellen Earl (1906-1984) in the spring of 1932 at South Shields, Co. Durham. Birth records identify two children.

Stanley died on 19 January 1977 at Birkenhead, Cheshire.
