Family
The 1841 census return records Charles Twist, minister, at Barwell, Hinckley, Leicestershire, aged 25.
It is probable that he was born in Birmingham, abt 1816. There were at least two Charles Twist’s baptised in Birmingham in 1816 so I have not been able to unambiguously identify his parents.
After leaving the ministry Charles became a grocer and draper in the village of Wrangle, a village about 9 miles north east of Boston.
He married Eliza Hobson (1816-1880) in the spring of 1845 at Wrangle, Lincolnshire. Census returns identify three children.
- Charles (1848-1881) – worked in the family shop (1871)
- John Hobson (1850-1919) – an agricultural labourer (1891)
- George (1852-1918) – an agricultural labourer (1891)
Charles died in February 1881. He was buried on 22 February 1881 at Wrangle, Lincolnshire.
