Family

James was born abt1813 at Snelland Lincolnshire, to parents George and Mary.

Census returns identify the following occupations for James after he left the ministry.

• 1861 labourer at iron works.
• 1881 tailor and draper
• 1891 retired minister

He married Hannah Coy (b abt1815) on 29 August 1838 at Amcotts, Lincoln. Census returns identify three children.

• Sarah Ann (1839-1908) – married Richard Brunt in 1862; died in South Haven, Michigan, USA
• Hannah Mary (abt1846-1881) – married William White in 1867
• Catherine Elizabeth (1850-1871)

He married Ann Shirley, nee Savage (1812-1897) in the summer of 1885 at Lincoln, Lincolnshire.

James died in the summer of 1898 in the Lincoln Registration District, Lincolnshire.
