Wood, William (1845-1865)

Ministry

A transcription of the obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by John Barfoot is attached. he records that William became a local preacher aged fourteen in the Belper circuit. After the 1864 Conference William accepted a call to the itineracy from the Rotherham circuit and served there for almost a year. In the process of moving to his appointment at Loughborough, he called in at home for a short holiday. Unfortunately he arrived with a boring fever and died before he could take up his appointment at Loughborough.

Family

William was born abt1845 at Milford, Derbyshire, to parents William Wood, an iron turner (1851), and Elizabeth Cheatham.

The 1861 census return records William as a mechanic.

William died on 27 June 1865 at Milford, Derbyshire.
