Yates, Thomas (1805-1877)

Thomas was born on 5 Aug 1805 at Barnstone, nr Burton on Trent. (Census returns give his birthplace as Repton, Derbyshire.) Thomas attended an Independent Sunday School.

He was converted on 2 May 1824, following a visit by Sampson Turner and others to his village. He united with the Primitive Methodist Society and soon became a leader and local preacher.

He married Eliza Todd (1808-1886) on 16 October 1838 at Easingwold, Yorkshire

Thomas had one daughter, either adopted or by a previous marriage.

  • Ann Alice (1829-1881) – married John Matthews, a tailor

Thomas died on 31 December 1877 at Easingwold, Yorkshire.
