West Bromwich circuit chapels

The Primitive Methodist magazine for May 1854 contains an article by Joseph Grieves about chapels in the West Bromwich circuit.

His concern is that “within a circle of three miles from the centre of the circuit stand twelve good connexional chapels to which are attached six schoolrooms and six dwelling houses. ¬†Fears were entertained by some (and not without reason) that such a number of chapels, grouped together within such a small compass, would injure each other and ultimately be an evil rather than a good.”

He gives information on some of the chapels which he says are “progressing favourably.”:-

  • Toll End
  • Gun Village
  • Lea Brook
  • Spon Lane
  • Gold’s Green
