  • Joseph Edward Gilbert was born in 1882 in Ashby Scunthorpe. He trained at Hartley Training College Manchester & went to London in 1909. He is shown in the 1911 census living in the Old Kent Rd. In 1913 he went to Guildford, 1915 was Chaplain in the Army, 1921 Kingston-upon-Thames. In 1924 he went back to London, in 1934 Barnstaple in Devon, 1938 Exeter, 1940 Portsmouth Mission, 1942 Dorchester to 1946. 

    Joseph married Annie Whitehead in Stoke on Trent 1913. He died in Weymouth on 28 Dec 1968.
