Fortuneswell Primitive Methodist chapel was built by James Kerridge in 1869 and served until 1971.  In 1971 it was merged with Underhill, the Wesleyan Methodist chapel on the other side of Fortuneswell.

In 1972 the Portland Dramatic Society began its occupation of the former chapel and at the time of Keith Guyler’s picture in 1989 it was in use as the Royal Manor Theatre.  It is still in this use in 2015.

Thanks to Jane Richardson for the photographs of chapel members in the 1930s and the letter of thanks to Rev Fred Jones and Mrs Jones when they left the Circuit.
