Iredale, Robert (1854-1915)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by A.J.B.

Cockermouth Circuit has experienced a great loss in the death of Mr. Robert Iredale, which took place on June 23rd. Born at Brigham sixty-one years ago, and converted at Bothel when about twenty-two years old, he threw himself heartily into Christian work. On removing to Cockermouth he joined our Church, and became an energetic Sunday school teacher, and subsequently superintendent. He was appointed leader of one of the mission bands, and became an acceptable local preacher. At the time of his death he was a trustee of our Cockermouth Church. Of kindly and cheerful disposition, he won the esteem of all.

The interment took place in Cockermouth Cemetery, June 27th. Rev. A.J. Bull officiated, and conducted a memorial service in the evening. Mr. Iredale leaves behind a widow and several sons and daughters, to whom our deep sympathy is extended.
