Sunday School Anniversary Events 1927 and 1930

Rhos Herald 19th June 1930 reports on the previous Sunday’s Sunday School Anniversary, deemed a “great success”. The procession (teachers and scholars) marched via Groes , Pentre, and Strvt Issa, where the open air meeting was held. Mr E Whittingham (Wrexham) delivered the afternoon address. Mr R W Hughes of Penycae resided over the afternoon service, with Mr E Whittingham leading devotions and Mr Ivor Jones of Ponkey reading the lesson. The evening President was Horace Jackson (Wrexham). Music soloists: Sally Thomas, Gladys M Hughes, Mrs F D Roberts, and Mr G Williams, Penycae. Duets performed by Mair and Ivor Jones, Reginald and C Williams. Recitations: May Edwards, Roddie/ Ronnie Parry, Gwennie Jones, Reg Williams, Megan Parry, Elsi Jones (C), Ada Cookson, Gladys Jones, Gwyneth Jones, Ada Conde, Gladys M Hughes, Maud Tinsley, Irene Dunn, Elsie Parry, William Jones, Emily Harrison, Frances Roberts, Sarah C Conde, Muriel Jones, Stryt Kenneth Lawton, Dora Jones, Alice Jones, A Dunne, Muriel Matthews. Mr Hughes (Rhos) conducted the choir. The accompanying musicians comprised Mr Stanley Hughes and Mr G Hughes (Plasbennion), as Mrs J Rowley was unable to attend as a result of illness.
