First Primitive Methodist Chapel in Berkshire
The Wiltshire Mission resolved to extend their mission into Berkshire in 1829, the first missioner being Rev Thomas Russell who met with great success.
The first chapel, Peasemore, was built in 1831. Two Local Preachers, Jacob Bolton and Thomas Taylor served the circuit for 50 years.
Chapel enlargement
The chapel was enlarged in 1853
Chapel Rebuilt
In 1922, the chapel was I a state of dilapidation and the decision to rebuild was made. The Memorial Chapel was opened on July 4th 1923

John Ride describes the opening of Peasmore (sic) Primitive Methodist chapel in the Shefford circuit in the Primitive Methodist magazine. It took place on on October 9th 1831. Preachers at the opening were Sister Smith, Brother Kerby and Sister Harding. Collections at the opening were liberal.
The new chapel measured 18′(w) x 21′(l).
Ebenezer Primitive Methodist chapel (which may be the 1831 chapel or a later one) is marked on West View on Ordnance Survey maps from 1877 and 1913. On the 1974 1:10,560 map it is marked as disused. On the 1874 1:2,500 map it has disappeared.
