The 1901 Primitive Methodist magazine tells us that the Middlesbrough CircuitĀ needed four new chapels, but was held back by debt on the old ones.
That said, a start had been made at Ayresome Street where the foundation stones for new schools had been laid. It was a new locality with a rapidly rising population and no place of worship “of any kind”.
I cannot see a Primitive Methodist school or chapel on Ayresome Street other than the large Wesleyan chapel at the eastern end at the junction with Linthorpe Road. Where was it and what happened to it?
