The Primitive Methodist magazine of September 1898 gives detail of part of the story. After three quarters of a century of worship in the village, the building they had used became unsafe. Through the good will of BC Tower, Earl Brownlow’s agent, a former village schoolroom was renovated, complete with pitch pine benches, and made available. Not all landowners were as supportive of village Methodists.
