Carlin How Primitive Methodist chapel

Mount Pleasant, Carlin How, Saltburn-by-the-Sea TS13 4EG

Pat Donnor tells us that Carlin How Primitive Methodist chapel was built in 1872, located just off the beginning of Mount Pleasant.   It was in the Staithes circuit.

The 1940 Methodist buildings return records the chapel, called Zion, as brick built and  seating 154 persons on pews.  In addition to the worship area, it had
1 schoolroom.

In 2023 it is a private residence, although Pat did not know the chapel’s date of closing.  However, the East Cleveland Scarecrow Festival website (!?) tells us it closed in 1956. Appropriately the row of houses opposite the chapel is called Wesley Terrace
