Winterbourne Primitive Methodist chapel appears on a picture of a group of chapels in the Brinkworth circuit in the 1922 Christian Messenger.
There are several Wiltshire Winterbournes – villages where a chalk stream only ran on the surface in the winter. This one is Winterbourne Bassett, as it is the closest to other chapels in the circuit at Bushton and Broad Town
In Winterbourne Bassett, a small brick chapel, built between 1900 and 1904, fell into disuse in the 1950s and was sold in 1960. In 2011 it is in residential use and still very recognisable as the chapel in the picture, although the round window over the porch nas become square.
