Beaverlee Primitive Methodist chapel

Ilkeston circuit

Primitive Methodists were poor working people with little to spare and many Primitive Methodist chapels opened with substantial debts and carried that debt for many years.

When the Beaverlee Primitive Methodist society decided to expand Beaverlee chapel in the Ilkeston circuit, 3 women volunteered to beg for money to enlarge the original building. Within a few months, half the amount needed had been raised. Donations etc at the reopening cleared all the other expenses.

It is not clear when the chapel was first opened, but the re-opening was celebrated on 21/06/1835 and 28/06/1835. T Morgan tells us about it in the Primitive Methodist magazine.

I am unable to find maps of Beaverlee, let alone the chapel. Where was it and what happened to it?
