The 1851 Census of Public Places of Religious Worship contains a report for Melksham Primitive Methodist chapel.  The chapel was part of a dwelling house, but used exclusively for worship.

The report was completed by Samuel Franklin of King street, Melksham who labels himself as Manager.

Attendance on Census Sunday was 60 worshippers at both afternoon and evening services.
