By Christopher Hill

The first Wrangle Bank Primitive Methodist chapel dates from 1838.

The chapel in the picture with the date stone 1875 served until it was sold in 1972. After closure it was used as a store, although by the time of Keith Guyler's photograph in 1994 it was derelict. By 2008 it had been converted into a house and was ready for occupation.

On the interior wall was painted the text from Psalm 100 verse 4: Enter His courts with thanksgiving

Comments about this page

The Wrangle PM Chapel was on the property sales market last year and again this year (2017) and amongst the renovation is a new tiled roof. As of last year and hopefully this year the stone plaque has been preserved. It was hidden with ivy before renovations and with hope, when in new ownership, the plaque will remain. A utility cable is in front of it.

Further information about this chapel may be found at Lincolnshire Archives, Lincoln:

There may be other collections for the PM Chapel at Wrangle Bank. Some pictures are known to be also at the Lincolnshire Archives but not of public domain, yet copies can be purchased. However, there are more recent ones for the sales adverts with a mention of allowing downloading. Some we now sent in attachments with this email. There has been more restoration and modernisation to the interior and exterior since the public domain recent pictures.
