Tynemouth: Return from the Primitive Methodist chapel in the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious Worship

The 1851 Census return tells us the chapel building was purchased by the Connexion in  1825. It had attendances of 350 at evening services and  and a thriving Sunday school of 100 scholars

  • Percy Street is one of four original streets in Tynemouth, The Tynemouth Priory theatre has been a methodist church, schoolhouse and was originally built as a Wesleyan chapel. The building next door to the chapel was formerly an inn.
