When they laid the foundation stone for Eston Primitive Methodist chapel athey marched in procession from Oddfellows Hall to the site in what was then known as Bank Lane. The site had been purchased from Lady Hewley’s trustees.
Speakers at the opening included Rev W Clemitson, Rev T Southron, Thomas Williams, T Brentnall (who laid the stone) and R Clapham. Donors included Lady Hewley’s trustees, HWF Bolcknow and J Vaughan. After the ceremony there was tea back in the Oddfellows Hall.
The new chapel was designed for 700 and was expected to cost £1,200. It measured 50′ x 40′.
Maps from 1894 to 1967 show a Primitive Methodist chapel on Jubilee Road on a site now occupied by Bankside Court.. Mind you there is no street called Bank Lane I can find either.
