Need, Samuel (1859-1915)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by W.W.

The Worcester Circuit, the young church at Droitwich especially, has lost a valuable official and worker by the death of Samuel Need, who entered the higher life on February 9th, 1915, in his fifty-fifth year. For more than thirty years he had been a most able and acceptable local preacher. He was also society steward, and discharged his duties in a most faithful manner. He was always an inspiration to the preacher. His Christian life was simple, beautiful, faithful, patient, kind and unselfish.

For twenty years he had looked after and nursed an invalid wife with the patience and gentleness of a saint. The call came unexpectedly. Taken ill on the Friday, he died the following Tuesday. The mortal remains were lovingly interred on February 15th, in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Droitwich. The service was conducted by Rev. W. Woodley, assisted by Rev. J.W.K. Brockbank (Baptist) and Brother W. Harley. Our hearts go out in deep and sincere sympathy to the lonely and afflicted widow, and we pray that she may be comforted by Almighty God.
