The 1851 Census of Public Places of Religious Worship contains a report for the Primitive Methodist society in the tything of Blackmore in the parish of Melksham. The report was completed by a local preacher and superintendent – William (?) of Snarlton Lane, Forest, Melksham.

Seating included 10 stools for the average attendance of 60 worshippers.
