Newmillerdam (Woodmoor) Primitive Methodist Chapel

Newmillerdam, Wakefield WF2 6QJ

Newmillerdam Primitive Methodist chapel

In the 1849 Primitive Methodist magazine Richard Davies tells us that on the 10th December 1848 “a beautiful little chapel” had been opened at Newmillerdam “by a chain of interesting providences” .

The chapel was in the Wakefield circuit.

The 1891 Ordnance Survey map shows us a chapel on Barnsley Road which is still there as Miller Court in residential use. That building carries the date 1880, so is a later chapel.  Is it on the same site?
