Thanks to Alison Butler for the pictures  and information about the Charlbury Primitive Methodist chapel, in use in 2023 as St Teresa’s Roman Catholic Church.  Alison was visiting the current Methodist church in Charlbury – the former Wesleyan Methodist chapel, only a little further along Fisher’s Lane.  The congregations would have been able to hear each other singing!

You can see the Charlbury Wesleyan Methodist chapel here.

Alison refers to the Victoria County History for Oxfordshire: A Primitive Methodist chapel was opened in Charlbury in 1853 and was apparently flourishing in the late 19th century. (fn. 578) By 1927, however, it had closed and was used as a laundry; it later became a Roman Catholic church.
