Kinnish, Robert (1836-1914)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by J.W.W.

Mr. Robert Kinnish was born at Santon in the Isle of Man, and came to Liverpool about 1860. At the age of eighteen he became an active member and official in our Benledi Street Church, and afterwards gave great assistance towards the erection of our present Everton Road Sanctuary and School in 1873.

He loved his Church and served her as trustee, treasurer, steward and class leader. He was a tower of strength and a regular worshipper, and had the great joy of seeing his family actively engaged in church work. Though naturally quiet and retiring in disposition, his was a deeply religious spirit which loved the means of grace and found gladness in prayer. He was blessed and happy in his home life, and his house was always open to our preachers. He represented his Circuit in the District Meeting, and was delegate to Norwich Conference.

His last illness was not protracted, and he entered into rest on October 1st, 1914, in his seventy-ninth year. Revs. J.W. Waddell, A. Hird, L. Johnson, and C.F. Hill (United Methodist) took part in the funeral service, and Rev. James Travis gave an address which was a beautiful tribute of affection. A memorial service was held in Everton Road Church.
