The 1851 Census of Places of Religious Places of Worship includes a return from William Heath, preacher, of Stroud Common, near Petersfield. It relates to 15 or 16 people meeting regularly in the kitchen of Mr Heath’s cottage – which he had built himself some 9 years earlier.
