When the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious worship was undertaken, Wheal Busy Primitive Methodist chapel in the parish of Kenwyn was in the course of construction. It was expected to open late May or early June, and would accommodate 200, all in free seats.
The return was completed by the minister, John Sharpe, of Chacewater.

Intriguing! The only Wheal Busy Chapel I know of at the moment is the well known Bible Christian built in 1863. However, this was north of the Wheal Busy mine. South of it is the Chacewater road and a putative Primitive Methodist Chapel at Salem (which I have yet to add to the website). After much digging with the Mapping Methodism team, we think this was previously a Baptist Chapel (1830 ish) before becoming the Primitive Methodist and then a United Methodist.
I don’t know how this fits with the 1851 date?
I wonder if this was also known as the Wheal Busy PMC or if there is another, which is still lost.
