Emerson, Charles Henry (1842-1911)

Family

Charles was born 28 February 1842 at Grimsby, Lincolnshire, to parents George Emerson, a miller and grocer, and Mary Leesing.

He married Susannah Lowe (1838-1875) in the spring of 1864 at Tonbridge, Kent. Susannah had a daughter, Elizabeth, by a previous relationship.

He married Mary Elizabeth Wright (1851-1916). Census returns identify five children.

• Lois Mary (b1882)
• Blanche Annie (b1883) – a nurse (1911)
• Phoebe (1886-1945) – married Archibald Charles Frazer, a clerk, in 1914
• Frank Ernest b1889) – a salesman (1911)

Charles died on 23 February 1911 at Halton Ontario, Canada

Charles emigrated to Canada, arriving in August 1867, but they returned to England before the death of Susannah. Charles returned to Canada, with his second wife and baby son, where he became a Baptist minister.
