West Hendon Primitive Methodist chapel

Edgeware Road

The September 1905 Primitive Methodist Magazine tells us:

“For 9 years our little West Hendon society have worshipped in a rented iron chapel, in the Edgeware Road, and for some time they have been dreading that they might have to leave the place.  Not long ago they received notice, but it looks as though what was regarded as a disaster will prove a blessing.  With great boldness and promptitude they secured an excellent site on a new road not far away and already the school chapel is nearing completion. The society and congregation are small at present, but the new building should attract additional members and workers .  In addition to the chief room there are nine classrooms in the building and vacant space is left on the site for the erection of a new chapel. We wish the chapel could have been built at once, but what has been taken in hand with the site and school is a very large undertaking for such a church”

Something else to bear in mind is the following from British History on line.  It tells us:

“Finchley Road Primitive Methodist chapel had been built by 1895 for a group which had met at Childs Hill at least since 1882.  In 1915 the chapel was being used by the Salvation Army”

Where were these chapels and what happened to them?
