The 1895 Primitive Methodist magazine contains an article about the decline of rural Primitive Methodist societies as a result of urbanisation in the late Nineteenth century. Wilton in the Watton circuit is identified as bucking the trend A new chapel had been opened to replace the previous “damp, unsuitable building at a considerable rental.”
That said, the circuit plans for the Watton circuit from 1917 does not include Wilton. Where was this Wilton? Is it Hockwold cum Wilton? You can read more about that chapel here.
