Edwards, John (1887-1913)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by Job Daniels

John Edwards, of Alltami, Buckley Circuit, born June 22nd, 1887, was called to his eternal home on January 22nd, 1913. He made surrender to Jesus Christ when about sixteen years of age, and for nine years was an enthusiastic and reliable worker in our School and Church, winning the confidence and love of all who knew him.

His promising career was cut short by a colliery accident. Seven months of intense suffering, patiently borne, terminated in his death. His passing is keenly felt both in the home and church. Still we have the gracious memory of his noble character and devoted service.

A large number of scholars, teachers, and friends followed his remains to their last resting-place. We sorrow not as those without hope; we anticipate a glad reunion.
