Evans, Eleanor (1836-1913)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by L.J.J.

In the passing of Mrs. Evans, of Lower Aston, Bishops Castle Circuit has lost a generous supporter, and our society at Green one of its most devoted members. For over thirty-one years she had been deeply interested in the work of the church. Her life revealed much of the mind and spirit of the Master. Her greatest characteristic was a constant thoughtfulness and kindliness for others. She loved the word of God, and sought to guide her life by its truths.

One who knew her for years writes: “She was one of the finest characters I have ever known. My reverence for her increased from year to year; so boundless in her generosity, so tender-hearted, so gentle and uncomplaining, such a truly fine pattern of a true Christian.”

For the last eighteen months her health had been failing, and the end came suddenly on May 14th. On May 22nd the writer conducted a memorial service in our Church. We commend the family to the love and care of the Father.
