Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by G.L.

Sarah, the beloved wife of Joseph Jones, Circuit Steward of the Bolton II, Station, was born at Farnworth 45 years ago, and died at Dunbhill, Bolton, February 6th, 1910. At the age of 12 years she surrendered herself to the Saviour, and to the close of her life was a useful, loyal and devoted member of our Church. One of a third generation of Primitive Methodists who rendered splendid service to our cause in Bolton, our dear sister, like her mother and grandmother, kept open house for our preachers.

She was a woman of very generous feelings, refined tastes, genial and hopeful, and withal, modest and thoughtful. An appreciative hearer, her presence at the service was ever helpful to the preacher. She had an intelligent faith In her Saviour, and her love to Him was a true deep and abiding experience. At sewing meetings, bazaars, or kindred efforts in aid of the funds of the church, she was a most sympathetic and willing worker. In the circle of her many friends she possessed a warmth and sincerity of attachment that never changed. She was indeed a bright spirit.

Her death was sudden. No one who witnessed her radiant face that Sabbath evening during the service, or talked with her at its close, could have imagined that the shadow of death was so near. In the house of a friend on her way home from church she fell on her knees and committed her spirit unto Him in whose hands are the issues of life and of death. Before medical aid was at hand she had gone to join in that service above that knows no end. On the Sabbath evening following the Rev. G. Lewins preached a memorial sermon.
