Family
John was born on 4 July 1877 at Bacup, Lancashire, to parents John, a cotton spinner and later an insurance agent, and Martha. He was baptised on 4 November 1877 at St John the Evangelist, Bacup.
Census returns identify that John worked as a cotton weaver (1891) and shoemaker (1901) before entering the ministry.
John married Maggie Frances Richmond (abt1883-1963) in the summer of 1908 in the Wandsworth Registration District, Surrey. Census returns identify one child.
David Richmond (1910-1996) – a scientific officer air ministry (1939)
Maggie married Ezra Stokes in early 1951 in the Wandsworth Registration District. However RAF Officer records for David suggest that she was living as Mrs. Stokes at Sturt Farm, Burford, Oxfordshire in 1932.
I have not been able to identify a death record for John in online records.
