The 1851 Census of Public Places of Religious Worship contains a report for Great House, Holt as a Primitive Methodist preaching place. It was not exclusively used for worship, but was a dwelling house.

Daniel Milson, who styles himself Deacon, reports that 50 people attended in the afternoon and 60 in the evening.
