Longshaw Family Tree

George Longshaw and Mark Longshaw

I am attempting to trace the family records of George Longshaw (dob 1825) and his son Mark Longshaw – see photograph.  I understand they were both trustees of the Primitive Methodist Church and would be interested in whether there are any photographic or documentary records I am able to access to assist my research.

I am particularly interested in photographs of the Longshaw family to assist in identifying images in a historical family album.

  • Hi Keith,

Sorry for delay in responding, but only just saw your message. If you are still intending on visiting the area then I can put you in touch with my cousin Angela Longshaw who still lives in the area and her dad Wallace Longshaw probably knows most about the family history. Email me on chrislongshaw@gmail.com (chrislongshaw at gmail.com) to get in touch as I rarely check this site.

    All the best,

    Chris

  • Hi Chris

It has been a while since I checked this site and it is great to get your response.  We will be visiting the UK next year and hope to catchup with some of the Longshaw family during the visit.

Are you aware of anyone researching the Longshaw family tree or history I can make contact with to confirm or support the history I have established to date.

Alternatively if there is a family member who is a respository for the family history oral or written I would be interested in making with contact.

I am happy to pass on my e-mail address for ease of contact.

    Regards

    Keith Brady

  • Dear Keith,

George Longshaw (b.1825) would be my great, great, great grandfather. My families line however was not through Mark Longshaw, but through his elder brother Charles (b.1852). His  son George Enoch Longshaw was my great grandfather. Although I have since moved out of the area, most of the Longshaw family still live in the Whitehill and Newchapel area.

Great to see your photo of George, Mark and Martha.

    best wishes,

    Chris Longshaw
