Atkinson, Isabella (nee Bateson) (1842-1914)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by F.E.T.

Mrs. Isabella Atkinson, a member of our Knaresborough Society, entered the Homeland on May 28th, 1914, at the age of seventy-one years. Connected with Primitive Methodism from her tenderest years, at Leeds, Wetherby, and elsewhere, she removed to Knaresborough five years ago, and had been most regular in her attendance at the means of grace. A splendid listener, rarely was a sermon too long for her. She had rich Christian experience and much unction in prayer.

Her bright countenance, sweet disposition, winsome personality and unselfish spirit impressed all who knew her. She was a rare soul and a true friend.

The last call came quickly. Her remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Knaresborough Cemetery on May 30th, Rev. F.E. Thistlethwaite officiating. A memorial service was held in our church on Whit-Sunday evening.
