William was born abt1815 at Eriswell, Suffolk, to parents Richard and Elizabeth. He was baptised on 16 April 1815 at Eriswell.
Census returns identify the following occupations for Dennis.
- 1841 minister
- 1851 sailor’s missionary
- 1861 agricultural labourer
He married Elizabeth Haylock (b abt1816) on 7 April 1839 at Mundford, Norfolk. Census returns identify four children.
- Rufus (1840-1915) – a printer compositor (1871)
- Miriam (b1841) – nursery governess (1861)
- Maria (b abt1844)
- Emma (b1846)
- John Henry (b1852)
I have not been able to trace the family after the 1861 census return.

Thank you for the information about William, which I have expanded to include some family information. I am not able to trace the family post the 1861 census return.
William’s son,Rufus, was in Scotland in 1871.
William Dennis b.1815 Eriswell, Suffolk, married 12/4/1849 Mundford, Norfolk giving his occ as Primitive Methodist Minister. He appears again in 1851 in Wisbech St Peter, Cambs., as a Sailors Missionary. I haven’t got much more than that in my family tree, too many possibilities for death record at present!!
