Dutton, Daniel F.R.A.S., F.R.G.S. (1848-1931)

Ministry

Daniel was President of the New Zealand PM Conference in 1879.

Daniel was a chaplain to the New Zealand Forces in WW1, enlisting in 1915. He had previously been a chaplain in the Boer War, the first chaplain to New Zealand Forces. In 1915 he is described as a Presbyterian minister at Caversham, New Zealand.

Family

Edward was born on 5 July 1848 at Brierley Hill, Staffordshire, to parents Edward, a furnace man (1851) and later a labourer, and Mary.

He trained as a mining engineer.

He became a F.R.A.S. in 1876 and a member of the F.R.G.S. in 1880.

Daniel was married but I have not been able to identify his wife in online records.

Daniel died on 26 August 1931 at Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand.
