The 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious worship contains a return from a Primitive Methodist preaching place in Bullgreen. James Simpson, a class leader, tells us that 45 souls attended on the afternoon of Census Sunday, of whom 31 were scholars in the Sunday school. 19 attended a service in the evening.
The room had been opened in 1835 and all the seats were free.
