William Barritt, a class leader of Small Bridge, completed the return from the Primitive Methodist preaching place Shore to the 1851 Census of Places of Public Religious worship.

The room had only been established on March 23rd 1851 – the week before. It held 200 people in free seats and on Census Sunday 90 people attended in the afternoon and 80 in the evening.
