Fenwick, Ellen (nee Jennison) (1837-1914)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by W.S.

In the passing of Mrs. Fenwick, wife of Mr. Mason Fenwick, and mother of Rev. R.J. Fenwick, the Great Thornton Street Church, Hull, has lost a very valuable supporter. She was born on January 17th, 1837. Sent to Mason Street Sunday school and chapel, at thirteen years of, age she was converted. Joining the Church in 1854, for sixty years she had an unbroken record of membership.

From the commencement of our Fernandian Mission Mrs. Fenwick was an annual subscriber to our Foreign Missionary Fund. A quiet, unobtrusive Christian, she clung with great tenacity to the verities of our faith.

She passed away very quietly on September 26th, and was interred in the Western Cemetery, Hull, in the presence of a large number of friends, on September 30th, Revs. R. Harrison and W. Swales sharing in the last rites. The writer of this notice conducted a memorial service in the Great Thornton Street Church on October 11th, when a large audience testified to the esteem in which Mrs. Fenwick was held.
