Faulks, Emma (nee Attenborough) (1853-1916)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by R.W.K.

Our Swan Street Church, Loughborough, sustained a very great loss on November 28th, 1916, by the translation of Mrs. Faulks. The deceased was associated with that church during the whole of her life. All her family were reared in it, and have all shared in its communion and work. Our deceased friend’s health had not been robust for many years, and the loss of her devoted and brilliant son, Dr. Edgar Faulks, who fell on the field of battle in September, 1915, was the greatest of many domestic sorrows which fell to her lot.

Mrs. Faulks was a fine type of intelligent piety. Her literary tastes were much above the average. She was a model mother to her large family, and their devotion to her was ideal. In no home were our ministers more welcome than in hers.

On Friday, December 1st, her remains were reverently laid. to rest. The service was conducted by Revs. A. Fawcett, and R.W. Keightley. The latter gave a brief address, and also conducted an “In Memoriam” service on the Sunday morning  following. “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, he praiseth her.” But, best of all, she has heard the “Well done!” of her Lord.
