Drew, Rhoda (nee Hannam) (1844-1916)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by W. Robson

Mrs. Drew was born at Buckhorn Weston, in the Motcombe Circuit. She joined the Church early, and has always been a faithful member and supporter. She was given to hospitality, and did not forget to entertain strangers. The preachers have always had a warm welcome in her home at Lugmarsh Farm. Of late, her infirmity did not permit her to attend the services, but “She has done what she could.” She was an earnest Christian, a loyal Primitive Methodist, and a good mother; nearly all her family are associated with our Church.

Her husband was a local preacher and society steward at East Knoyle, in Mere Circuit, for many years, and she was a true helpmeet. Her life was full of good works, and her memory is blessed. She died on October 1st, 1916, at the age of seventy-two, and was interred in the East Knoyle Cemetery, the service being conducted by the Rev. W. Robson. The memorial service was held the following Sunday evening.
