Dickinson, James (1848-1911)
Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine
Mr. James Dickinson was born January 12th, 1848, and in early life became associated with our cause at Daisyhill, in the Bolton II. Circuit. For many years he was a most zealous worker, and gave his best energies to the Church and its varied institutions. He was a life-long abstainer.
At the Christmas Day Party in 1906 the members and friends showed their appreciation of his services in a tangible form by presenting him with an illuminated address and a purse of gold. For over forty years he had been connected with the church and school.
At this time his health was failing, he having had a stroke in June, 1906, and another in September. He lingered in weakness for some years, being patiently resigned, and passed away on November 15th, 1911, giving a good Christian testimony. The body was laid to rest in Daisyhill Churchyard, Rev. J.H. Cretney officiating. Mr. Isaacs Aspinall (a life-long friend), preached the memorial sermon.
