Lawrence, Emily (nee Edwards) (1840-1915)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine

Mrs. Lawrence passed away on Wednesday, November 17th, at the age of seventy-six, after a long illness. Born and reared in a small village in Norfolk, on marriage Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence removed to Watton, where it was their joy to support generously all denominational interests. She gave the best of herself and her services to the Church. Her home often sheltered the ministers.

The family came to Tunbridge Wells over thirty years ago, and were among our best members and workers. She was a most devoted and self-sacrificing wife, a wise and loving mother, a loyal Primitive Methodist, and a humble and faithful Christian, a great yet a patient and cheerful sufferer. The warmest sympathy is felt for her children.

The funeral took place at Camden-road on November 22nd, and a memorial service was held on Sunday evening.
