I have not been able to identify William in online records. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I believe John William Goodwin (1848 )was the son of Thomas Bagnall Goodwin (1816-1882) and the grandson of Josiah Goodwin ( a minister for 58 years.) His great grandfather was John Goodwin, who according to the Methodist obituaries of 1896 page 15, para 2, was “Sent out by Wesley himself”.
Hope this is some help.
note; it seems that at some point (census?) he was living or visiting his uncle Will Goodwin, but according to the obituaries Josiah was his father.
