Gibbon, John (1885-1914)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by T.K.

A most useful and promising young life was lost to our King Street Church, Stretford, when, on August 20th, John Gibbon passed away at the age of twenty-nine. His parents are among the most loyal and generous supporters of our Church.

Having grown up in our Sunday school and Church, to both he gave ungrudging service. He filled offices of trust and responsibility with diligence and honour. His courtesy, thoughtfulness and high Christian character won for him the esteem and confidence of the whole Church.

He suffered long, but his faith in God was unshaken, and he faced the future with bright hope and a grand assurance of immortality. He has left behind a young wife and a little son to mourn his loss.
