Giltrow, Joseph (1833-1914)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by T.R.

On Sunday, October 4th, at Leighton Buzzard, Mr. Joseph Giltrow, one of our oldest and most useful local preachers, was called home. For upwards of sixty years he had preached in the Leighton and surrounding circuits. He delighted in open-air work, and was in great request for camp meeting services. He loved to attend the preaching services and the class and prayer meetings. In 1901 he celebrated his jubilee as a local preacher when our North Street Church and friends made him a presentation.

The funeral service was held in the North Street Church on October 8th, conducted by the Rev. N. Boocock. His body was laid to rest in the Leighton Cemetery in the presence of a large number of friends.
