Mathison, Charles (1872-1956)

Family

Charles was born on 28 October1872 at West Auckland, Co. Durham, to parents Charles Mathison, a coal miner, and Mary White. He was baptised on 28 March 1873 at St Helen Auckland.

After leaving the PM minister he became a Unitarian minister.

He married Gertrude Tyas (1879-1963) in the summer of 1902 at Mexborough, Yorkshire. Census returns  and birth records identify three children.

  • Frank Tyas (1904-1973)                
  • Jack (1912-1990) – an insurance broker (1939)                        
  • Charles Donald (1917-2003) – fitter of petrol, diesel engines (1939)        

Charles died on 29 July 1856 at South Shore, Blackpool, Lancashire.
